Tempted by a Temptress

Got all excited this week when I saw a long lost chop from sunny Bridlington for sale on E bay. Built in about 1984 by my mate Charlie and featured in Back Street Heroes magazine in 1985. I couldn't resist and 3 days after i saw it the winning bid was mine, it arrives from Gloucestershire next week.

A Shit Week!

A reshuffle at work means that from 1st Sept I will have a 100 mile round trip to work and back that will result in £5000 per year just in diesel, bastards! So...........a bit of retail therapy was called for, e bay calling.

Before.

After.

Screamin Eagle heavy breather air cleaner, used for 100 miles and then taken off by the owner cos it wasn't fancy enough, sold for just over half price. Come to daddy!

Day off tomorrow so it's in the garage working on the XS 650, I need it finished now.

Polished cases

It's really getting there now, polishing wheel has been working overtime and it's paying off. More finished bits.

Left side tappet cover, alternator case won't be on for a while yet though.

Clutch cover polished and fully fitted.

Right side tappet covers, polished and fitted.

Back at it.

Been sorting out some crap and making space in the garage. Got my polishing machine mounted on the wall and have actually polished 2 small engine cases from the XS, need some gloves though as the old finger ends were getting a tad hot. Got 4 days off from Friday so I'll get stuck in, my mission is to polish all the engine cases and get them back on before work on Tuesday, subject to wifey allowing me out to play when the DIY jobs list is getting longer, I may have promised to do some wall papering, doh!

Photos of the polished cases will appear on here very soon. In between sorting out crap I have managed to rebuild and fit my brake calipers, am still missing a bag full of gorgeous Goodridge stainless banjo bolts and fittings though. They'll turn up!

Rush in concert

No bikes this time, music. I went to see Rush in concert last night in Sheffield, they've been going for nearly 40 years and are all approaching 60 but you'd never know. Fantastic show by one of Canada's best exports.

Just getting going.

Geddy Lee in fine voice.

Geddy again.

Neil Peart hammering the drums, he even managed a 10 minute solo later.

Alex Lifeson on the guitar.

DT 175

E Bay triumphs again, the non paying bidder wasn't non paying and the DT has gone to sunny Lincolnshire with a very happy new owner, despite him getting me out of bed by turning up 5 hours early I'm happy too. There's also a space in my garage.................no stop it!

No news is bad news.

Made a bit of progress on the XS 650 but it's all little stuff, managed to get some wiring done and was even daring enough to connect the battery up, happily there was no big bang or flames.  Tony McGuire is painting my calipers and polishing my cases cos I simply don't have the space to do it and if I tried my XS would end up covered in shit and over spray. A few more weeks should see it done now though, I can't wait to get it on the road but at the minute I'm just waiting and doing small jobs.
Had my Harley for MOT today and thankfully it passed.
Got a few jobs to do on the Z650 as although it's running well it has an oil leak from the clutch cover which is bad enough for me not to be able to ignore it.
I've also had a change of plan with my DT175, I've put it on e bay and flogged it. I feel a non paying bidder coming on though cos it's been 3 days now and winning bidder has not been in touch!!!

Hopefully more interesting stuff coming soon.
